ILM-DS Printer

The use of hologram printing increases the life of the card and also improves the level of protection against counterfeiting. With the advent of modern industrial printers, this complex, time-consuming, and expensive process was significantly accelerated and its cost reduced.

Matica EDIsecure inline lamination modules work with both conventional and holographic lamination to meet your needs. Unlike the ILM-LS model, which is a strong module for one-sided laminations, the ILM-DS lamination machine is capable of double-sided lamination at high speed. Both modules, i.e. ILM-LS with a speed of 16 seconds for each card (single-sided) and ILM-DS with a speed of 30 seconds for each card (double-sided), are considered the fastest laminating modules available in the market.

Both products rely on pressure and heat to bond the clear film to the card surface. This film can be transparent, opaque or holographic (3D) according to your needs. These models are also able to produce tamper-resistant cards. Matica EDIsecure inline lamination modules can be easily added to conventional ID card printers. Compact dimensions and the ability to laminate one side and two sides give you the power to choose based on your budget and needs.

How the hologram printer works:

The lamination modules can be utilized in two ways: 1) installed next to the card printer like the XID8300 Retransfer Printer, or 2) separated from ILM-DS .

Using this printing technique, the two-dimensional image looks three-dimensional depending on how the light shines on the hologram. Since it is not yet possible to create a true 3D image on flat surfaces, industrial hologram printing still relies on a holographic layer, which is thermally bonded to the card surface. In these printers, pre-designed holograms( such as Matica’s EDIsecure ribbons) and customized holograms can be used.

Increasing the level of protection against forgery with hologram printers:

It is no coincidence that custom holograms have found widespread applications in the field of sensitive documents such as corporate and security identification cards, debit cards and credit cards. Also, government documents such as driver’s licenses, national IDs, and passports also rely on holographic printing to protect documents from illegal copying. In addition, common printing methods, such as photocopying or conventional printing, do not perform as effectively as a holographic printer.

The process of reproducing and forging a hologram without reference to the original hologram is very difficult. As a result, reproduced holograms are often recognizable to experts even to the naked eye. In general, holographic printing can be considered a reliable method to prevent counterfeiting.
